While many books focus on occupational health and safety in the international arena, few provide information pertinent to safety management in Africa and South Africa. An Introduction to Safety Management in South Africa aims to bridge this gap and to increase safety awareness at all levels of an organisation. The topics discussed in the book include workplace accidents, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, fire safety, safety when handling materials and symbolic safety signs. It also describes how the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and its regulations relate to safety in the South African workplace today.
